Project Description
The CALM Initiative has completed over many constructability reviews to provides, ash basin Owners, Engineers and Contractors information valuable information on how layered ash and subsurface anomalies can influence the excavation, fill placement and embankment construction over soft and saturated CCR materials. Important topics typically include evaluation of stormwater management, a review of pertinent geotechnical information, and the approach to treatment of decant and CCR porewater. The approach to constructability reviews used by the CALM team is collaborative and involves working with Owner, Engineer and Contractor evaluate and avoid potential problem areas and changing conditions that are common on ash basin closure projects.
